  • I am a proponent of classical education. That is, I believe that the primary objective of school is to teach students the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Once those foundational skills are mastered, the emphasis should shift to helping students learn the lessons of history, the discoveries of science, and the beauty of art. As students mature, they need to learn how to teach themselves according to their own interests and strengths. This is the goal of education.
  • Teachers are not, nor should they be, the primary caregiver of the students. Teachers are agents of the parent, not substitutes. As a rule, parents are the final arbiters of what is best for their children. We are there to assist, not replace parental authority.
  • Every school should be a safe place for students, teachers, faculty, parents, and visitors. We protect what we value. What could we possibly value more than our children?
I am committed to doing whatever is necessary to ensure that each of our students gets the best opportunity possible to learn the basics - reading, writing, and math - and to grow and mature into capable and confident citizens. That objective will determine every stance I take and every vote I cast.
