Victoria Druley is a Medina parent of four and long-time advocate for public education. For more than a decade, she has worked to support Medina’s schools, including serving as Chair of Kids First Medina, Chair of Partnership Council, and as a member of the Facilities Committee. She is now running for the Medina Board of Education to continue building strong schools for every student.
  • Fiscal Responsibility and Fair Funding I believe in using district funds wisely and responsibly. At the same time, I will continue advocating for fair school funding at the state level so Ohio pays its fair share, reducing the overreliance on local property taxes to fund our schools.
  • Dedicated Parent and Community Voice As a parent of four children in Medina City Schools, I bring firsthand experience of the challenges and opportunities in our classrooms, and I will ensure families have a strong voice on the school board.
  • Supporting Teachers and Staff I believe our teachers and staff are the foundation of student success. I will support policies and practices that respect their voices, protect their rights, and ensure they have the resources they need to do their jobs well.
I have spent a great deal of time learning about and working on school funding in Ohio. I understand how the state’s current system leaves districts like Medina carrying too much of the financial burden, and I have spoken out for policies that create fairer, more stable funding. I have also opposed the expansion of vouchers, which take away dollars meant for public schools and weaken the system that serves most students.

My focus is on ensuring every child has access to a high-quality public education. I support policies that strengthen our schools, protect them from harmful legislation, and require the state to meet its responsibility to fund education fairly.
For me, the most important characteristics of an elected official are integrity, transparency, and accountability. A board member should be willing to listen, learn, and communicate openly with the community. I believe in collaboration, respecting different viewpoints, and making decisions with students at the center. It’s also important to approach challenges with both fiscal responsibility and fairness, ensuring that choices are sustainable for our schools and community.
The core responsibilities of a school board member are to provide oversight and accountability for the district. That includes ensuring that policies, finances, and curriculum decisions are made in the best interest of students and the community. A board member is also responsible for listening to stakeholders and making sure their concerns are represented at the district level.
I would like my legacy to be one of advocacy and trust. I want people to look back and say I consistently stood up for Medina’s students and staff, made thoughtful and fiscally responsible decisions, and worked to ensure our schools remained strong for future generations.

I also hope to leave behind a stronger sense of connection between the community and the schools, where families feel informed and confident that their voices matter. If my service results in a district that is better supported, better understood, and better prepared for the future, then I will have accomplished what I set out to do.
My favorite book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I love it because it reminds us that the most important things in life are not always seen on the surface but felt and nurtured through care and responsibility.

That lesson applies directly to serving on the school board. Good decisions are not just about numbers or policies but about understanding the needs of our students, families, and staff. Just as the Little Prince learns to care for his rose, board members have the responsibility to care for the whole community by listening, protecting what is important, and making thoughtful choices for the future.
The primary job of a school board member is to hire and evaluate the superintendent and treasurer, since those two positions carry out the day-to-day operations and financial management of the district. The board’s role is to set the vision, approve policy, and serve as the community’s voice in guiding the district forward.
My constituents are the students, families, and staff of Medina City Schools, along with the broader community of Medina residents. As a school board member, I would serve every student in the district, regardless of background or circumstance, while also representing the taxpayers who fund our schools. I believe it is important to listen to and balance the voices of parents, teachers, staff, and community members so that our schools reflect the values and needs of the entire community.
When I think about diversity in Medina, I think about the wide range of needs within our schools. Students come to us with different learning styles, abilities, strengths, and challenges. Some need advanced opportunities, while others need extra support, and all deserve to feel safe, supported, and valued. As a parent, I have seen firsthand how our staff have gone above and beyond to help my own child who struggles with social norms, and I want that level of commitment to be a standard for every student.

For staff, I believe the district must recognize and support everyone’s contributions, from teachers to paraprofessionals to counselors, and provide them with the tools and respect they need to succeed.

For the broader community, I see the board’s role as making sure families feel welcomed, informed, and confident in our schools. That means listening, communicating clearly, and making thoughtful decisions that reflect both educational priorities and fiscal responsibility.
