An effort to recall Village Board Trustees Larry Long and Ellen Cole did not go to a vote in Big Bend, Wisconsin. The recall was found to be insufficient in timing and signatures.[1][2]

Village Board President Jeff Goodman resigned on June 27, 2024.[3]

Recall supporters

Big Bend resident Thomas Rank is listed as the recall petitioner. Rank has alleged that Goodman, Long, and Cole violated state statutes related to Open Meeting laws.[1]

Recall opponents

Goodman has denied that the violations occurred. Long and Cole did not respond to a request for comment from The Freeman.[1]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Wisconsin. To get the recall on the ballot, supporters must collect signatures equal to 25% of the votes cast in the last gubernatorial election in the relevant jurisdiction. Signatures must be collected within 60 days.[4]
