I am a Mother and Grandmother. In 2023, I was elected onto the local Soil and Water Conservation District board. I have been a registered nurse for almost two decades. I was even a forensic nurse, mostly performing Sexual Assault Nurse Exams, on survivors of all ages. For many years, I held down the fort while my husband was serving (now retired) in the US Air Force. I have served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and have also sat on a County Health Council, by invite, and was a student body representative for the Nursing Department at Eastern New Mexico University.
  • I am deeply concerned about our children in New Mexico. Our schools have got to be places for educating our future generations. We have to raise the bar and make education a priority for children. We also need to overhaul CYFD so more children do not slip through the cracks.
  • It is time to have a return of the cash bail system. We need to be tougher on crime and make it harder to be a criminal. We need to bring more money to law enforcement, too.
  • How about some support for the residents? We need to reduce the state income tax to put more money in the pockets of the hard working people that live here. You all should choose where you spend your money. Lower taxes also helps small businesses to pay their employees and thrive.
There are a lot of areas that I am passionate about. Crime, education, protection of children, health care, protection of our rights (such as 2nd amendment), mental health care access, reduction of taxes, and Veterans protections, to name a few.
An elected official needs to be accessible and accountable to their Constituents.
My favorite book is The Scarlett Letter. I struggled through this book in high school. I had to spend so much time re-reading it just to understand what I was supposed to be reading, that I ended up absorbed in it. By the time I finished the book, I loved it. I actually had to read it again for my enjoyment!
The last song to get stuck in my head was, 'Good morning beautiful' by Steve Holy. I was singing it to my infant granddaughter and couldn't get it out of my head after that.
I believe some our big challenges in the future are going to include an undereducated workforce, a diminishing water supply, an over-regulating government, an increase in crime, and increased illness related to lack of access to quality health care if we don't start turning things around.
I do not believe that previous experience is necessary. When government works the way it should, it is made up of the people, and most people are not typical politicians.
I really do not know what the future holds for me. Right now, I just want to step up and try to help my neighbors, the residents of HD 50.
I heard so many stories. Some almost bring me to tears, some make me smile, but all of them have touched me. I live among some of the most amazing, hard working, brilliant and caring people in the world.
I am actually interested in several committees: agriculture, acequias and Water resources, health and human resources, and education
