Campaign themes

2014

In an article inthe Albuquerque Journal, Ahasteen-Azua said she was running for the following reasons:[1]

  • Excerpt: "I ran for New Mexico state representative four years ago and nothing has changed. Come to Gallup; my Navajo people are laying on the streets, digging in trash cans for food. The city of Gallup and the Navajo Nation would certainly find a consensus that we need new leadership who understands that for my Navajo people their harmony way of life has been disrupted by a legal disease called alcohol, where our city has over 50-plus liquor licenses for a population of 20,000 and play the blame game. It’s time for a change; we need public servants not self-serving politicians."
