Alberta Tinsley-Talabi (Democratic Party) was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 2. Tinsley-Talabi assumed office on January 1, 2011. Tinsley-Talabi left office in 2017.
Tinsley-Talabi (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Michigan State Senate to represent District 3. Tinsley-Talabi was disqualified from the Democratic primary scheduled on August 2, 2022.
Tinsley-Talabi is a former Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 2 from 2010 to 2017. She did not seek re-election to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2016 due to term limits.
Tinsley-Talabi served on the Detroit City Council from 1993 to 2009, and as a Wayne County Commissioner from 1987 to 1990.[1]
Biography
Tinsley-Talabi earned her B.S. in social work and criminal justice from Eastern Michigan University in 1976.[2]

2014
Elections for the Michigan House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Incumbent Alberta Tinsley-Talabi defeated Andrew Casazza and Bill Miller in the Democratic primary. Daniel Lamar was unopposed in the Republican primary. Tinsley-Talabi defeated Lamar in the general election. Danetta Simpson ran as an independent candidate but was disqualified before the general election.[6][7][8][9]
2012
Tinsley-Talabi won re-election in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 2. She defeated District 1 incumbent Tim Bledsoe and Anthony Zander in the August 7 Democratic primary and defeated Daniel Corrigan Grano (R) and Hans Christopher Barbe (G) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[10]
2010
Tinsley-Talabi won election to the District 3 seat in 2010. She defeated Carol Banks, Kenneth Jackson, Isaiah Lawson, Liscious Williams III and Kirk Young in the August 3 Democratic primary. She defeated Daniel Lamar (R) and Fred Vitale (G) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[11][12]

A questionnaire distributed by the League of Women Voters (dead link) asked the candidates to provide information about their legislative priorities and proposed actions regarding those priorities. Tinsley-Talabi gave the following responses:
- Job Growth and Employment Opportunities
"I will propose the state spending priorities focus on those activities that generate "real" jobs with particular consideration given to economically distressed areas."[13]
- Preventing Mortgage Foreclosures
"I will propose that OFIR establish criteria for financial institutions to grant families with underwater loans new mortgages at current market value."[13]
- Quality Public Education
"I will support higher state funding for K-12 School Aid Fund and improved teacher continuing education and technical support funding."[13]
