  • Many political candidates talk big about tax cuts during campaign season, but I’m proud to report that I’ve delivered big for taxpayers during my time in office. Over the years this has cumulated in billions of dollars in annual savings. Through responsible budgeting, this has been made possible while still making investments in core government functions like infrastructure, education, and law enforcement. As a husband, father, and businessman, I’m very conscious of the importance of tax relief for the people of South Carolina. You can count on me to keep fighting for sound fiscal policy.

  • When I was first elected, our state was way behind the 8-ball from deferred maintenance and lack of investment in infrastructure to support growth. The county kept approving developments, but neither the state nor local government invested adequately in road improvements to keep up. During my time in office I have fought for our community; fixing our roads is a top priority of mine. We can’t let our beautiful community suffocate under the weight of development. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far, but there’s still much work to be done to be more efficient, advance more projects, have better accountability, and ensure total transparency for taxpayers.

  • Our state must enforce the rule of law, including protecting the public from the dangerous effects of illegal immigration.

While much of the immigration enforcement actions are a Federal responsibility, the state can take initiative to crack down on all manner of crime, and partner with the federal Department of Homeland Security to deport criminal illegal aliens.

Illegal immigration affects public safety through crime, drugs, and human trafficking; as well as budgetary issues such as increased law enforcement needs and higher demand on public services.
I am especially passionate about addressing efficiency in government and ensuring responsible budgeting.
By stretching every dollar, we can dedicate necessary support for core functions such as roads, law enforcement, and education while still providing tax relief to the citizens of our great state.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards, State legislative scorecards in South Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
