Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a native Lexingtonian who lives on a farm our family has had since the 1800s. Of the six candidates who initially ran and of the two in the race, I am the only one who resides in the rural area. I am active in local politics with regard to the preservation of rural land. I have been the president of the Old Richmond Road neighborhood Association perhaps for 30 years and many of the items included in this position are items l am asked to or do tackle anyway for our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is the largest in terms of the size of the neighborhood and is probably one of the most active and largest in terms of membership. I am good at organizing things, accomplishing things, knowing what needs to be done and how to get it done.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Working for the people in the rural area of Fayette county
• Unbiased with regard to who would be capable of filling positions possibly needing to be appointed by the Fayette county judge executive
• Running for the love of this community.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

The urban service boundary/preserving rural land, protecting the farms. I would like to see our city have on hand information to give to businesses about housing in the area at all levels, from high-level to medium level to low levels, so businesses have an idea of what they are facing if they move into this area. I would like our city to put more effort into having this information available. Land is finite so we have to make the best use of our land for protecting all facets of business, agriculture and industry.

I think this position has the ability to help people on a number of levels. One item in particular is making sure the available funds are known to students (and to school counselors) about a scholarship started in the early 1900’s for Fayette County students. It needs to be utilized by students or it can possibly be altered to use the funds to educate ALL Fayette county students about the history of our county through a program the Lexington History Museum would like to undertake instead.
