Joanne E. Thoring-Ojeda represents Trustee Area 3 on the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education in California. She was first appointed to the board in December 2013.[1][2][3] Thoring-Ojeda filed to run for re-election in the general election on November 6, 2018, but the election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Thoring-Ojeda won the election by default.[4]

Before joining the board, Thoring-Ojeda worked in California schools for 41 years. During that time, she held a variety of positions, such as school secretary, groundskeeper, parent volunteer, teacher, and principal. Thoring-Ojeda earned her associate degree from Chaffey College, her bachelor's degree from California State University at Fullerton, her master's degree from Azusa Pacific University, and her teaching credentials from California State University at San Bernardino.[5]

2014

Five seats on the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. One board member from Trustee Area 1, two members from Trustee Area 2 and one member from Trustee Area 3 were up for re-election to four-year terms. Another seat from Trustee Area 3 was up for election to a two-year term due to a vacancy on the board.

Trustee Area 1 incumbent Randall Ceniceros ran unopposed and won re-election by default. The Trustee Area 2 race featured two incumbents, Pilar Tabera and Dan Flores, and one challenger, Juan Rodriguez, running for two seats. Tabera and Flores won their bids for re-election. In Trustee Area 3, incumbent Joanne E. Thoring-Ojeda ran unopposed and won re-election to a four-year term by default. The two-year term election in Trustee Area 3 featured candidates Kent Taylor, Jennifer Araiza and Francine Sandoval. Taylor defeated the other candidates to win the seat.

This election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Incumbent Joanne E. Thoring-Ojeda was re-elected by default.[6]
