Five seats on the Lucia Mar Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Trustee Area 1 incumbent Chad Robertson, Trustee Area 2 incumbents Colleen Martin and Mark Millis and Trustee Area 3 incumbent Vern Dahl ran unopposed and won re-election to four-year terms. Trustee Area 4 incumbent Don Stewart also ran unopposed, but as he was appointed to his seat, he was re-elected to a two-year term. Because each seat up for election was unopposed, this election did not appear on the ballot.[8]

The Lucia Mar Unified School District is located in San Luis Obispo County in southwestern California. The county seat is San Luis Obispo. San Luis Obispo County was home to an estimated 281,401 residents between 2010 and 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau.[10] The district was the 153rd-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 10,634 students.[11]
