William Gray was a candidate for an at-large seat on the Cleveland County Board of Education in North Carolina. He was defeated in the general election on November 3, 2015.[1][2]

Five of the nine seats on the Cleveland County Schools school board were up for at-large general election on November 3, 2015.

Incumbents Roger Harris, Richard Hooker Jr., and Shearra B. Miller won re-election to their seats. The other two seats on the ballot were won by Jo Boggs and Jeff Jones. Harris, Hooker, Miller, Boggs, and Jones defeated George Falls, Yvette D. Grant, William Gray, Darius Griffin, Hal Hastings, L. E. Henson, Nikki Ledford, Ray Lockhart, Howard Mcleod, Howard Thompson Jr., Robert Queen, and incumbent Jerry D. Hoyle.[4][2][5]

Cleveland County Schools is located in western North Carolina in Cleveland County. The county seat is Shelby. According to the United States Census Bureau, the county was home to an estimated 97,076 residents in 2014.[7] In the 2012-2013 school year, the Cleveland County school district was the 25th-largest school district in North Carolina and served 15,951 students.[8]
