2012 elections review: Incumbents toppled in Texas runoff elections

The primary season continued yesterday with runoff elections in Texas.
Here's what happened in Texas, where races for State Senate, State House, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House were held.
Congress
U.S. Senate
In the heated GOP runoff election, Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst for the Republican nomination. On the other side of the aisle, Paul Sadler defeated Grady Yarbrough for the Democratic nomination.
U.S. House
There were 11 runoff elections held in the U.S. House, 6 Democratic and 5 Republican. The results are as follows:
District 5: Linda Mrosko defeated Tom Berry.
District 7: James Cargas defeated Lissa Squiers and will face incumbent John Culberson (R) in the general election.
District 14: Randy Weber defeated Felicia Harris.
District 15: Dale Brueggemann defeated Eddie Zamora and will face incumbent Ruben Hinojosa Sr. (D) in the general election.
District 23: Pete Gallego defeated Ciro Rodriguez.
District 25: Roger Williams defeated Wes Riddle.
District 27: Rose Meza Harrison defeated Jerry Trevino.
District 33: Marc Veasey defeated Domingo Garcia for the Democratic nomination.

District 34: Filemon Vela defeated Denise Saenz Blanchard in the Democratic runoff. Jessica Puente Bradshaw defeated Adela Garza in the Republican primary runoff.
District 36: Steve Stockman defeated Stephen Takach for the Republican nomination in the newly created 36th District.
State Legislative
Texas held a total of 18 state legislative primary runoffs on July 31 -- 1 Senate and 17 House with 4 Democratic and 14 Republican runoffs.
A total of 5 incumbents faced off against their opponents in the primary runoffs. Of those incumbents, just one, J.M. Lozano, advanced to the general election.
