Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) is a political action committee (PAC). As a PAC, the group can spend money on elections, but is not run by a party or individual candidate. On its website, the SCF states that it "helps elect strong conservative leaders to the U.S. Senate by raising money for their campaigns from freedom-loving Americans across the nation."[1]
Background
SCF was founded by former Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) in 2008.[2] The organization initially worked to put conservative lawmakers into seats held by Democrats. In 2012, the SCF moved to also challenge Republican incumbents.[3] In 2014, Politico reported that the organization was "instrumental in pressuring conservative lawmakers to take the hard-line strategy demanding a defunding of Obamacare, even though it led to the government shutdown last October."[4] In July 2017, after the Senate could not ensure enough votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act or begin debate on the Republican replacement, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, the SCF announced its intent to challenge Republican senators who did not support the repeal. In a statement, the group said, "Working with the grassroots across the country, we will seek to identify, recruit, and fund conservative challengers against Republican senators who vote against repeal."[5]
Leadership
The most recently identified leader of SCF was Mary Vought.[6]
Work and activities
As of December 2025, the organization's website said it "helps candidates by bundling contributions for them from thousands of freedom-loving Americans across the country, and our super PAC, Senate Conservatives Action (SCA), helps them by running hard-hitting ads to promote their conservative campaigns."[1]
Additionally, their website says the following about its policies it supports:[1]

Affiliations
The SCF has an affiliated PAC, Senate Conservative Action.[1] According to its website, the PAC "is the Super PAC arm of the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF)... SCA helps candidates by running hard-hitting, independent ads to promote them while SCF helps raise money directly for their campaigns by bundling contributions from thousands of freedom-loving Americans across the country. SCA also pushes the Senate to support conservative policies by mobilizing the grassroots and helping them communicate with their elected representatives in Washington. When politicians don't see the light, SCA makes them feel the heat."[8]
