Scott T. Murakami is the former director of Hawaii's Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, serving from 2019 to 2020.[1] He resigned on August 5, 2020.[2]

Murakami served as the director of Hawaii's Department of Labor and Industrial Relations from April 12, 2019, to August 5, 2020. He previously worked as the director of workforce development in the Office of the Vice President for Community College at the University of Hawaii.

Murakami was appointed as director by Gov. David Ige (D) on January 8, 2019, succeeding Leonard Hoshijo.[1] The Hawaii State Senate confirmed Murakami on April 12, 2019.[3]

About the office

The director heads the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, the state agency responsible for administering Hawaii's labor regulations, unemployment insurance, and workforce development programs. The department also produces research and statistics regarding the state's labor market.
