My name is Cameron Scott Bowie. I have lived in Orono for 24 years now, went to Elementary, Middle, and High School here, and got my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maine, and an MA in Policy at UMaine as well. I am very much a locals local. In being a local I have lived and seen this town grow and go through many different tribulations and stresses, but I have grown to love the town and the people in it. My father, Dr. Robert Bowie, and my mother Lorinda Bowie raised me to value civil service, honor, and duty to place and home above all else. I wish to bring the same convictions and service I have done over the years to the government of this great State. I am faithful to our constitution, and our commonly held convictions as a people in Maine, and I intend to represent the interests of the people faithfully in protecting their rights and privileges. Beyond that, I am a hobbyist of tabletop games, an avid reader of books of all kinds with a particular interest in science fiction and history, and I enjoy talking with folks about their lives and learning about them. I have participated in Search and Rescue, served in the USCAP, walked the path of a boy scout, and served in university government.
  • I promise to serve faithfully, with no false grandstanding or promise of utopia, but a steady stable hand to represent the interest of all the people of the district and the state. I promise to work diligently to cut down red tape, and make access to your government easier.
  • I pledge to keep our rivers and forests clear and clean, and work diligently to expand efforts of conserve and preserve the states wildlife and forests, and traditional trades.
  • I seek to expand educational access, and empower a new generation of Mainers to work and live in Maine, and to do so with dignity and good education.
I am very passionate about the right and honorable execution of just governance. Of earnest care and concern, uncorrupt direct and accountable to the people I rightfully owe much to as a private citizen and will serve as a legislator. I care about making government do the least amount of harm, and the most good for the least cost so that the people of this great state can breathe easier knowing they live under fair laws and fair rules.
My father is one of my foremost role models as a Doctor and a Civil Servant, but I looked up heavily to figures of antiquity like Marcus Aurelius or Antonius Pius
I hold honor very dearly and will not part with it without great affliction
That I served well, faithfully and that I was loyal to my people
My first real job was working as a Dishwasher for Umaine. I worked it throughout the summer and a few months into the fall semester. About 5 months or so.
Destiny's Crucible, Under an Alien Sun - story of a PhD in chemistry dropped into a 17th century society. Wonderfully done and written.
Ah, the Count of Monte Cristo always intrigued me as the most interesting man in the world. The things he learned and did.
Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones
I have struggled with Aspergers growing up, and socializing, only overcoming it fully in my later college years and learning to live with it. I have also struggled with my weight and have accomplished great things, things few could do in life times with these afflictions.
I believe the state legislature serves the Governor in ensuring the people of the state get the best governance. Sometimes serving means going against what they want at times to ensure the people get the best governance, but they are the executive, and we are representatives, we are not to supplant the executive.
I foresee the collapse of our fisheries and lobster industry being a great concern and seeing if we can rise to the occasion to not only supplement industries but save and preserve the importance of the current industry.
Benefits are a faster and more efficient government

Drawbacks are that the government has fewer checks on itself
I think it most certainly makes for better efficiency, but a new face is needed at times.
Personally I have little input as I have little expertise, but generally a district should represent a local culture.
I would enjoy being part of the Oversight and rules commitee, the Innovation commitee as well
I... there are to many to be honest, but the one that hit me the most was that of my own peer whom toiled diligently and loved the state of Maine with a passion, but could not find earnest work and was swept out by covid of the state in search for good pay and job. We lost a loyal citizen that day.
Two atoms walk into a bar, one says "I think I lost an electron" the other one asks "are you sure?" and the atom responds "I'm positive"
I have seen Star wars I know how this one goes.
I think so. We are a state of many peoples and many beliefs, and we should honor the wishes of the people to the best of our ability if it is in disagreement among the whole or with the representative.
