Campaign themes

2016

Blythe's campaign website listed the following themes for 2016:

I’m running for City Council because there is no better place to call home than right here in Virginia Beach. From exquisite beaches and outdoor spaces, to locally-owned businesses, world-class schools and universities, and military families we’re proud to call neighbors - there are so many reasons to be proud.

And that’s why I want to serve this community on the City Council. I’m grateful to have been able to raise my three children here in Virginia Beach. And as we’ve grown, we’ve been faced with new challenges and extraordinary opportunities. Together, I’m ready to champion the ideas and ideals that will move Virginia Beach forward.

Economic Development
I believe in a new approach to creating jobs. Ever increasing taxes and fees are hurting hard working families. A better Virginia Beach doesn’t have to be a more expensive Virginia Beach.

Smart Transportation Solutions
I believe in preventing wasteful spending on an outdated and notoriously expensive light rail system. Instead, let's pursue 21st century alternatives that take advantage of the technological revolution in transportation to improve mobility and connectivity so desperately needed by our community.

Responsible Growth
I believe in responsible development - not based on cronyism and shortsighted gains, but based on thoughtful decision-making and free market principles, with an eye toward the future. [2]
