Kinney ran for election in the 2010 election for Missouri House of Representatives District 118. Kinney ran unopposed in the August 3 Democratic primary election and was defeated by incumbent Stanley Cox (R) in the general election, which took place on November 2, 2010. Curtis Shipman (C) was also defeated in the general election.[2][3]
