Paul Paulson
Paul Paulson was a 2015 nonpartisan candidate for mayor of Orlando, Florida. Paul Paulson lost the general election on November 3, 2015.
Biography
Paulson earned his J.D. from the University of Florida. He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years prior to becoming an attorney. Paulson works as a home builder. He is also the founder of Help the Vets and the Breast Cancer Outreach Foundation.[1]

The city of Orlando, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was September 4, 2015. Three of the six city council seats were up for election.[2]
In the mayoral race, Buddy Dyer defeated Sunshine Grund and Paul Paulson in the general election.[3]

Paulson was accused of sending mail to supporters with the following text: "Vote Republican... vote Paul Paulson for Mayor!" Because Florida state statute prohibits candidates from stating a political affiliation while running for nonpartisan office, this would have been a violation of that law.[4] The Florida Elections Commission dismissed the case, saying that there was "no probable cause" to charge Paulson with this violation.[5]
