Campaign themes
2014
Marcum's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Education
- Excerpt: "Steve has a strong belief in developing our children into independent, critical thinkers. This will enable them to lead us into an era of making WV a leader among the states. Steve also believes in encouraging lifelong learning so children will continually better themselves by being informed, involved, and a positive influence as they grow."
Second Amendment - The Right to Bear Arms
- Excerpt: "Steve is a strong supporter of the Constitution and the right to bear arms. Our rights come from God, not man, and every citizen should be able to protect himself and his family. Steve also believes the Second Amendment was put into the Constitution to prevent our government from becoming a tyranny. It is because of this belief Steve feels 'the right to bear arms' shall not be infringed upon."
Economy / Coal
- Excerpt: "Steve will fight the war on coal to bring jobs back to WV. The future of WV depends on our fossil fuels. The laws of our state should be implemented by our representatives in legislature, not bureaucrats at the EPA. Steve also wants to develop strategies to bring more industry to WV."
