My husband and I moved to Hot Springs Village in 2013, when I retired from my career as a Pediatric RN at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Grandchildren, motorcycling, and teaching quilting provide balance in my life.

In my nursing practice and later as a small business owner, I learned the skills necessary to successfully serve District 22.

As a representative in the Minnesota Nurses Association, I learned how to advocate for public health. I led our delegation to lobby at the legislature.

I am sponsored by the Libertarian Club of Hot Springs Village https://libertarianclubofhotspringsvillage.weebly.com, and the Libertarian Party of Arkansas lpar.org.

  • retired Registered Nurse with experience lobbying at the State capital
  • Libertarian promoting personal liberty and fiscal responsibility
  • provide balance of skills in legislature - already have too many businessmen and lawyers
In my nursing practice and later as a small business owner, I learned the skills necessary to successfully serve District 22.

As a representative in the Minnesota Nurses Association, I learned how to advocate for public health. I led our delegation to lobby at the legislature.

There are many businessmen and lawyers in the Legislature. I see my health care background as a necessary addition to balance skills of the other legislators.

As a Libertarian, I support personal liberty and fiscal responsibility. My goals include: expanding personal liberty, reducing the size and intrusion of government, reducing taxes, and decreasing regulation. Sensible COVID-19 policies are essential. I support more school choice for each child in order to meet their individual needs. The Arkansas justice system needs major updating, including eliminating victimless crimes. Businesses operate most effectively in a free market setting.

People person with empathy. Ability to learn a wide range of topics easily. Strong medical and mathematic skills.
I must be receptive and available to my constituents. As a good listener (learned in nursing!), I want to hear everything that is concerning to my constituents , including their ideas of solutions.
1960 President Kennedy was elected. I was 9 years old. I began to understand something about politics.
1963 President Kennedy was shot. I was 12 years old - in Home Ec class, Junior High. I learned about loss, and how quickly our leadership could change.
The Rose sung by LeAnn Rimes. It reminds me of the importance of my relationship with my husband.
Sometime previous political experience creates bias. The skills required can be acquired in the private sector. In fact , our constitution was created to have legislators who come from the private sector with varied skills to represent the populous. The expectation was to return to private life after serving, so others could do the same. Lifetime politicians were never expected. As time has moved on, we learn how career politicians forget their roots, frequently becoming corrupted.
The current challenge of COVID-19 is our most pressing issue. My medical knowledge combined with experience with a small business give me a unique perspective on this issue. Returning to something as close to 'normal' life as possible is my goal.
All issues related to health care are of very special interest. Having a pediatric background, anything child related is also as good fit.
