Literacy and Student Achievement. My commitment to bridging gaps in education and uplifting her community is nothing short of inspiring, making me a beacon of hope and a force for meaningful change.
I look up to my grandfather, or as I call him my Papaw. He has always taught me to work hard to obtain, to seek after the Lord, to enjoy the beautiful creation God has given us, and my love for sports! To have grit, tenacity, and to never give up, to make the moments count, are all very important qualities he has entrusted me with by his example.
He raised me as his own and never blinked an eye. Some would think not having active parents during defining moments of my life would have been a horrible thing, but I was blessed to have the greatest. All was right with me when papaw told me it was right, including the bow on that dress Nannie tied 52 times, before he said I looked beautiful! I have always found peace, love, safety, and laughter under his wing!
Integrity, transparency, honesty, annd advocacy are the most important principles for an elected official.
The qualities I possess that would make me a successful officeholder is grit, tenacity, courage, strength, and integrity.
The core responsibilities of this office is to be student centered, represent and build positive relationships with the community and constituents, hold the superintendent accountable, and write policy that will ensure a quality education for every student.
The legacy I would like to leave is how to serve and love all you encounter, showing them they are seen, loved, and so valuable. To always leave those around you better than when you first encountered them.
I vividly remember the day that Space Shuttle Challenger’s STS-51L mission ended on January 28, 1986. It left such an impression on me, it was the first time a teacher went to space. I was 4 years old.
My very first job was a waitress at the local catfish restaurant.
I served there for a year, until I had the opportunity to work at the happening place, Dairy Queen, of course!
The Bible. This does not mean I do not respect the separation of church and state.
A huge struggle for me has been watching literacy and student achievement plummeting. This is why I have stepped out in faith to run, to stand in the gap for our students.
The core responsibilities of this office is to be student centered, represent and build positive relationships with the community and constituents, hold the superintendent accountable, and write policy that will ensure a quality education for every student.
My constituents are the students, families, and stakeholders of District 1, as well as throughout out our district.
Through the lens of being a current teacher, parent and active community member, I hold a valuable perspective that will only enhance our board.
Just as I support the many diverse needs of each student in my classroom, so will I commit to doing the same on the other side of the dias.
Prior to running for this position, I have worked really hard to build and maintain relationships with our community as a whole.

I have done this both financially and in volunteering.
I will continue this very important work so that students are at the center.

One specific area I want to build a stronger relationship is in the area between my role as a school board trustee and our city councilman.
The key way we will know students are successful is my keeping consistent track of MAP and STAAR scores. These scores are how we are measured by the state and national level. Teachers that show success should be able to have autonomy.
There is a huge need to improve and expand training and apprenticeships to ensure our students have access to many options that will guarantee their success for beyond the classroom.
I am currently and actively advocating against vouchers to help ensure our schools are properly funded.
Our students must be safe, as well as families must feel safe sending their children to school. Constituents feedback is a huge factor, as well as meeting state standards in this matter.
I can support the area of mental health needs by collaborating with fellow board members to write policy to ensure these are met.
How do you get Pikachu on a bus? You Pokémon.
I would like to revisit our policies on student discipline to ensure they are current and up to date with the needs we face in today’s society.
The ideal learning environment is safe, positive, respectful, and one in which the teacher is supported to ensure learning for every student.
As a parent of students in our district, I know how very important this is. I will continue to build relationships with parents through making myself available to them and serving in empathy and humility.
In this role, financial transparency and responsibility is key.
