The Arkansas Ballot Title Readability Amendment is not on the ballot in Arkansas as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 3, 2026.

The measure would have required ballot titles to be "readable, clear, and concise", limit ballot titles to 500 words, and allow the state legislature to enact laws providing for a standard for ballot title readability.[1]

A simple majority vote is required during one legislative session for the Arkansas State Legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot. That amounts to a minimum of 51 votes in the Arkansas House of Representatives and 18 votes in the Arkansas State Senate, assuming no vacancies. Amendments do not require the governor's signature to be referred to the ballot.

  • March 27, 2025: The amendment was introduced in the Senate by four Republican Senators and one Republican Representative.
  • April 10, 2025: The amendment failed in the Senate in a vote of 22-10.
  • April 14, 2025: The amendment passed in the Senate in a vote of 24-7.
  • May 9, 2025: The legislature adjourned its 2025 session without passing the amendment.
