Campaign themes
2016
Riegel's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
| “ |
Enviroment Colorado is the most beautiful state in the country. Every day that we can spend outside is a blessing. I, like many others, came to Colorado for the wonderful outdoors, the hiking, the backpacking, and the breathtaking scenery. It is important that we protect our state’s natural beauty for all citizens, present and future. Infrastructure It is important for Colorado to explore alternative modes of transportation to relieve congestion as our state’s population grows. We need to work to repair and improve our roads and highways, and explore public transportation options to prevent gridlock along the Front Range. It is important to encourage innovative solutions to the growing needs of our state. Voting In our society, it is an important right and privilege to be able to speak our minds regularly. We should encourage efficiency and inclusiveness in our elections. Fracking It is important for Colorado to move forward in our energy investment. We must explore renewable resources as a way to power our society. Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine per year on average mean solar energy is a viable energy for our wonderful state. Fracking has a high cost for little benefit, and is not sustainable in the long run. LGBT Rights An important foundation of American society and American history is the ability of each American to define themselves however they so choose.[1] |
