An effort in Three Fraser, Michigan, to recall Council members Michael Lesich, Suzanne Kalka, and David Winowiecki was initiated in January 2019. Petitions were approved for circulation on January 22, 2019.[1]

Recall supporters

Karl Haus filed the recall petitions on January 9, 2019, in response to the three officials voting in favor of a $9 million tax increase for police and fire services.[2]

Recall opponents

Kalka told the Detroit Free Press that the recall effort was an attempt to put all members of the city council on the ballot in 2019. She said, "There are four (council members) up for re-election, including the mayor. If you recall, you can put everybody up in November. That's the way I see it. It's done this way by design."[1]
