Tracy was a potential candidate in the 2013 special election for the U.S. House, representing Missouri's 8th District. The election was held to replace Jo Ann Emerson.[1]
There was no primary election, instead each party's nominee was chosen by a committee. Jason T. Smith was selected by the GOP to be their nominee in the general election.[2][3]

On November 4, 2008, Clint Tracy ran for District 158 of the Missouri House of Representatives, beating Robert Roland.[4]
