Christian, conservative, husband, father, veteran, and teacher. Looking forward to serving the people of the 22nd District, and all of Ohio, in the State Senate.

With degrees in Logistics, Education, History/Political Science, Biblical Studies, and with teaching and management certifications, I bring unique skills and a different mindset to the Ohio General Assembly. I'm a grassroots candidate who sees what you see. s a teacher, let me be your voice on education, on religious freedom. Let me defend life in and out of the womb and our 2nd Amendment. As a veteran, let me stand up for our great men and women who served our country.

I will put Ohio first, cut through Red Tape, and bring a voice to Columbus that has not been there in decades.
Health Care reform is long overdue. I am talking about improvements for both patients and health care professionals. Our medical professionals have historically been overworked, which brings risk to them and patients. I am the child of Registered Nurses, and I am the husband of one. I am concerned that health care reform does not factor in the providers nearly as often as it should. Patients need reasonable access to health care which becomes more available when jobs are thriving.
In the realm of public office, I have always admired Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Lincoln fought the great social injustices of his time. He did so with faith, conviction, and resolve. It is not easy to go against the grain but it is never the wrong time to do what is right and I have learned that from Lincoln.

George Washington is a prime example of servant leadership. A great military leader, Washington served as President because it was the will of the people. Washington's decision to only serve 2 terms set a precedent that would not become law until after FDR. Washington left a record of selflessness and working for the common good. I plan to do the same.

Spiritually, I admire many individuals of faith, past and present. In my travels to Israel, I have literally and figuratively followed in the footsteps of ancient Christians. Like them, I will take my faith with me and serve God in all that I do.
Leadership. My leadership revolves round integrity - doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

I was recognized time and time again for leadership while in the military, including being named the #1 overall graduate in a military leadership academy (as voted by peers and instructors).

Leading by example is something I am already known for and I will not sacrifice that while in office.
Faith-first candidate.

Leadership.
Structure.
Team Work.

Battle-tested.
I want to be remembered as a champion of conservative values. To me, the term "conservative" means the values and teaching of the Bible. If I stand on and spread those values, I would be thrilled if that is remembered.
I was 12 years old, sitting in a 7th grade Social Studies class when I was made aware of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. I was moved by this and still think back on this moment regularly

That moment changed the world and shaped happenings from my life from then on. I wound up joining the service, fighting in the War on Terror, and pursuing a career as a Social Studies teacher, 7th - 12th grades.

My Christian Faith journey has also shaped my life. As has my marriage, and the birth of my two children.
I performed general labor, odd jobs, and lawn care off on before reaching 13.

In High School, I worked at a retail store stocking shelves and also delivered pizza.

The Book of Acts, located in the New Testament, was a life changing book for me. I became a member of the Christian faith after studying this book and I will never forget that.

I read a variety of genre's but Shakespeare's iconic line (from Julius Caesar), "There is a tide in the affairs of men..." has rang true to me and my campaign. That line is so true. Now is a time, a tide, for grassroots candidates to take public office back from career politicians and special interests. I believe I am the candidate who will best do that.
My gut reaction was Dwight Schrute and/or Michael Scott.

While based on true events, I identified with the main character of the first "God's Not Dead" movie, known as Josh Wheaton. I have been to academia, I have been in circles that actively seek to strip people of their faith. The character Josh fought for his faith against a variety of challenges and ultimately won!

Those success stories are out there and I plan to be one of them!
In the military, I faced many challenges and struggles, one being PTSD. Thankfully, I followed sound and proven advice to overcome those challenges.

As a husband and father of two girls, both under age 3, I face challenges every day. What will Ohio and the United States look like in a generation or two if the right people, with the right experience and the current expertise do not enter public office?
The Senate is considered the "upper" chamber. In my view, this upper chamber is primarily concerned with the quality of life of their constituents. As the only veteran in my race, as the only candidate with young children in my race, as the only teacher in my race, I see quality of life issues and concerns in a way that many others do not.

Combine my firsthand view of the issues with my unique background, and you have a recipe to improve the quality of life. That is my job as a State Senator, and I will strive to improve the quality of life for children in the womb, through the elderly.
Experience is always important but you do NOT need to have always been a legislator to be a good one.

Veterans and teachers have the right experience; teamwork, the good of the whole above the good of themselves, hard work, dedication, attention to detail, and so on. Those skills translate well to other fields and I contend they will translate very well as I enter the Ohio General Assembly.

Maintaining Conservative Values and jobs.

We have important state Supreme Court cases that need to be won by our conservative nominees.

Ohio is one of only four states to have not reached their pre-2009 recession figures. That is unacceptable. Legislators will tell you that the "silver lining" is that we have available jobs that employers struggle to fill. That tells me that our legislators have marketed Ohio to the wrong entities and now we have to force education to bend toward the needs of these jobs.

The jobs model needs serious work. My eye for talent and my efficiency with timing will help change the temperament on jobs in Ohio.
One of mutual respect is ideal. A governor that listens to legislators will be better for it.

Legislators should not, and are not asked to, bend to the will of the governor.
Yes.

Building relationships is a great way to build respect. If all 33 Senators had respect and trust toward each other, imagine the possibilities.
As an educator I would join education committees.

As a veteran, I would hope to lead Veteran Affairs committees.

As one passionate about healthcare, I will join healthcare committees.
Yes. I am a proven leader and will take on any leadership role that my District and I felt I was a good fit for.
I will be replacing Senator Larry Obhof. It would be an honor to pick up the torch from him and carry his efforts on.

Senator Obhof is a conservative, he is dedicated, he defends life, and makes no apologies for his faith. I will follow the pattern.
If my constituents felt I would be a good representative for them, I would consider another office.

However, at this time I am only concerned with the next 8 years in the State Senate.
A young lady currently going through chemotherapy has come to some of the events pertaining to the State Senate race. I have been informed that she will be voting for me.

Her vote aside, a lady fighting for her life is going out to make sure she knows the issues and the candidates. I have also found out that she attends community functions regularly as well.

Folks, the majority of us have no excuse for not being involved. This love of community, state, and country has been inspiring and I hope to prove myself worthy of her efforts.
