David A. Gilbert
David A. Gilbert is a judge of the Colorado 4th Judicial District. His current term ends on January 12, 2029.
Gilbert ran for re-election for judge of the Colorado 4th Judicial District. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
Gilbert was initially appointed to this position by Gov. Bill Owens (R) in July 2001 and won retention to a full six-year term in 2010. Gilbert won retention again in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Biography
Gilbert, a native of New York City, received his undergraduate degree from Queens College (City University of New York) and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver School of Law. He spent the first two years of his career as a private practice lawyer dealing with real estate, personal injury, corporate, and employment law. In August 1986, he became a deputy district attorney in the 4th Judicial District. He continued to work at the district attorney's office, where he later served as the chief trial deputy district attorney and managed the criminal division and homicide prosecution unit.[1]
