David Wilson (Republican Party) ran for election to the Maryland State Senate to represent District 15. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
David Wilson lives in Poolesville, Maryland. Wilson served in the U.S. Army for 23 years during Operation Desert Storm/Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fairmont State College and a master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University. Wilson's career experience includes founding Response Masters, LLC.[1]

| “ | 1. Non-partisan redistricting to give the power back to the voter. The current legislative majority had an opportunity to do this, but decided to play politics instead of supporting the people's vote.
2. Supporting businesses by eliminating over-regulation (the hidden tax burden). We must create a supportive environment for current businesses to grow and new business to start. 3. Using smart technology to improve traffic, reduce environmental impact, and increase quality of life.[3][4] |

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
| “ | Two areas of public policy are critical requirements and priorities for me.
1. We must build accountability into every policy and law. This routine business practice establishes measurable standards and data points we should use to monitor success or failure. Our laws should clearly state what success looks like. We should have the flexibility to quickly modify failing policies.
2. The second is transparency. Every policy, every program, every activity funded with taxpayer money should be open for near-real-time review by the public. This will require accountability standards to be in place and tracked. This also means open meetings or live stream video of meetings will be the rule and not the exception.

| “ | Running for a different office is always a possibility. I support term limits and will limit myself to no more than three terms in the state senate. There are many ways to continue serving others. It's something I will always do.[4] | ” |
| “ | The Asian American communities and associations continue to be enthusiastic supporters of Republican candidates. Early on in my campaign, I was invited to the home of a Chinese-American couple who invited many of their friends and colleagues to discuss issues. The most significant issue of the evening was education and how disappointed they were in the standards of our schools in Montgomery County. But the most impactful statement was a result of a question I asked the group. My question was simply, "Why are so many Chinese-Americans registered Republicans?" The response came quick and clear. To paraphrase, When we came to America, and listened to what many of the Democratic candidates were saying, they sounded like the government officials we left in China. Personally, I think the average Democrat and the average Republican have very similar points of view on most issues. We all want fairness, opportunity, good jobs, affordable healthcare, great education, and a cleaner environment. However, too often, those on the extreme left/right of our parties have the loudest voices and the most prominent platforms to speak from. The response from my Chinese-American friends had an impact on me. It was a reminder to fight the extremes by fighting for the quiet majorities in all parties.[4] | ” |
