An effort to recall Delta County Board of Commissioners members Robert Barron, Dave Moyle, and Robert Petersen in Michigan was initiated in 2023.[2] In the clarity hearing on July 17, the Delta County Election Commission approved the recall petitions for circulation.[1]
Barron, Moyle, and Petersen filed appeals, halting the signature collection process. An appeals hearing was scheduled for August 7, 2023.[3] The appeals were rejected in the hearing, allowing signature collection to move forward.[4]
Recall elections for Moyle, Barron, and Petersen were scheduled for May 7, 2024.[5][6][7]

Recall supporters cited the board's firing of administrator Emily DeSalvo as grounds for recall.[1]
Recall opponents
Recall opponents argued that the board acted correctly in firing administrator Emily DeSalvo since a speech she made criticizing Barron, Moyle, and Petersen would have made cooperation difficult.[1]

In the clarity hearing on July 17, the Delta County Election Commission approved the recall petitions for circulation. Petitions may not be circulated for 10 days to allow a potential appeal period for officials targeted in the recall. Commissioner Moyle indicated his desire to appeal the decision to the circuit court.[1]
