Tebano is an educator. He obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and Italian from SUNY Albany. He went on to earn a master's degree in Italian literature from SUNY Binghampton.[1]

Four of the nine at-large seats on the Newburgh Enlarged City School District school board were up for general election on May 17, 2016. Incumbents Susan Prokosch and Andrew Johnston, along with newcomer Domenic Tebano, won the three seats with a three-year term. Incumbent Darren Stridiron won the seat with a one-year term. Challengers Anthony Hood, Mark Levinstein, Sylvia Santiago, and Lissandra Deliz were defeated in the race for the four seats up for election.[2]
