Campaign themes

2016

Weeks submitted the following statement of political philosophy to Ballotpedia in July 2016:

After serving on the Virginia Beach City Council in 1998, Don once again feels compelled to run for the Mayor in 2016. He believes his experience in the Council, business, and a common-sense approach to protecting taxpayers can help to improve Virginia Beach. As a member of City Council, Don Weeks was in favor of the Boardwalk Restoration Program as well as NAS Oceana. He strongly opposed the “sweetheart deal” with the 31st Street Hotel and Light Rail. He favors strong accountability for politicians and views his role as Mayor to be one of service to the community. Don Weeks feels passionately about serving his hometown community and, in 2016, he hopes to again make a difference and give back as Mayor of the Virginia Beach City Council. [2]
