Dustin Oedekoven is the former interim South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture. He assumed this position on March 23, 2016 after previous Secretary Lucas Lentsch resigned.[1] He was replaced by Mike Jaspers on June 7, 2016.[2]

Prior to being appointed interim secretary of agriculture, Oedekoven was the state veterinarian and the executive secretary of the South Dakota Animal Industry Board. He began serving in these two posts in 2009. Before that, Oedekoven worked on the animal industry board as a staff veterinarian.[3]

Oedekoven was appointed as interim South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture on March 23, 2016 by Gov. Dennis Daugaard. "Dusty is well-respected throughout the agriculture industry and will do a great job leading the department until we identify a permanent replacement.” Daugaard stated.[5]
