Gerald DeWitt

Gerald DeWitt was a Republican candidate in the February 15, 2011 special election for District 178 of the Georgia House of Representatives. DeWitt ran to the fill the seat vacated by Mark Williams (R), who was appointed as Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources.
Biography
DeWitt served on the Jesup City Council. Now retired, his professional experience includes working as Manager of Environmental Affairs for Rayonier Performance Fibers. DeWitt served 25 years in the Georgia Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Corps of Engineers.
Elections
2011
DeWitt and three other candidates were defeated by Chad Nimmer (R) in the February 15, 2011 special election to the Georgia House of Representatives District 136. Both Georgia special elections held an open primary. All candidates will appeared on the February 15 ballot along with their party affiliation. Since Nimmer received more than 50% of the vote, the election will not proceed to a runoff on March 15.[1]
