Hector Castillo
Hector Castillo (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent New Jersey's 9th Congressional District. He lost in the Republican primary on June 4, 2024.
Castillo was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 9th Congressional District of New Jersey.[1]
Castillo was a 2013 Republican candidate for District 35 of the New Jersey State Senate.[2]
Castillo ran for Governor of New Jersey as an independent in 2005 but lost to Jon Corzine.[3]
Biography
Castillo earned his B.A. in biography and chemistry from Seton Hall University. He later received a Master's of administrative science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Castillo completed graduate work in ophthalmology and internal medicine at Columbia University. Castillo was an ophthalmologist before retirement.[4]

- Lower taxes for all working families
- Stabilize and defend social service for the poor
- Increase scholarship and make college affordable
- Promote small business growth - the engine of our economy
- Crack down on fraud and abuse in New Jersey

Castillo wanted college to be more affordable and intended to combat corporate fraud.[3]
According to his website, Castillo's campaign platform included the following issues[14]:
