James "Jim" Borchard is a judge of the 10th Circuit Court in Saginaw County, Michigan. He was elected to this position on November 2, 2010, and took office the following January 1.[1] He ran unopposed for re-election in 2016.[2]

Borchard received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1972 and his J.D. from the University of Detroit in 1976. He began his career in 1976 working in the Saginaw County Prosecutor's Office. He then joined the law firm of Smith, Bovill, Fisher, Meyer, Borchard, P.C. in 1978. He worked there until 2001, when he returned to the Prosecutor's Office. In January of 2011, he joined the circuit court bench.[3]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[4] Incumbent James Borchard ran unopposed in the 10th Circuit general election.[2]
