James P. McKenna
James P. McKenna (born February 4, 1961) is both an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the part-time MBA program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Management as well as a lawyer in Millsbury, Massachusetts. After the State Republican Party failed to find a nominee to compete against failed senatorial candidate Martha Coakley in the race for State Attorney General, he launched a write-in campaign that required 10,000 votes be cast for him in the state's September 14th primary if his name were to appear on the general election ballot.[1] Quite surprisingly, McKenna received 27,711 write-in votes, nearly three times the number he needed.[2] However, a little over a month later, he lost in the general election on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 after receiving slightly over thirty-seven percent of the vote.
Professional experience
McKenna has served as a prosecutor for the last decade in a number of different capacities. His legal career began in Franklin County, Ohio in the Civil Division of the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. He also worked as an assistant to the Suffolk County District Attorney in the Organized Crime Division and spent six years as a supervisor in the Grand Jury Unit for the Office of the Worcester County District Attorney.

Campaign finance complaint
The State Democratic Party has filed a complaint against James P. McKenna, the write-in Republican candidate for State Attorney General, accusing him of violating state campaign finance laws. In an interview with the Associated Press, the Millbury lawyer stated that he had spent $5,000 so far on his campaign, about triple the amount he reported to the state campaign finance office. A statement released by his campaign contends that the candidate had not taken into account the cost of "printing 100,000 stickers and mailing at least 15,000 of the stickers."[3] McKenna insists that an amended report will be filed with the state agency shortly.
