Jim Howell (Republican Party) is a member of the Sedgwick County Commission in Kansas, representing District 5. He assumed office in 2015. His current term ends on January 11, 2027.

Howell (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Sedgwick County Commission to represent District 5 in Kansas. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Howell is a former Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 81 from 2010 to 2015. He did not seek re-election in 2014.

Biography

Howell earned his B.S. in industrial technology from Southern Illinois University and his second B.S. in organizational management and leadership from Friends University. His professional experience includes working at Boeing on the 767 International Tanker Program, and in similar roles at Cessna and Bombardier. He served in the United States Air Force for five years.[1]

Howell won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas House of Representatives District 81. He was unopposed in the August 7 Republican primary and defeated Barbara Lynn Wells (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

The Kansas Policy Institute, Kansas’s "first free market think tank," releases its legislator scorecard as a part of its Kansas Freedom Index for Kansas state representatives and senators once a year. The Score Card gives each legislator a score from 1%-100% based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on specific issues which the Kansas Policy Institute thought were pro-limited government policies.[6]
