Campaign themes
2014
Solveson's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Abortion
- Excerpt: "I believe that God alone is the giver of life and that the ultimate right to take any life rests with God alone. If elected to the Ohio Senate, I would be an advocate for the passage of the Heartbeat Bill (SB 297) and its signing into law. I would advocate for those unborn children, who have a right to life but cannot speak for themselves."
Capital Punishment
- Excerpt: "Personally, I would rather that in some cases justice not be served to the fullest extent warranted, if it also means that innocent life will be preserved."
Common Core
- Excerpt: "In my opinion, Common Core is neither neither legal nor Constitutional and it is a further entrenchment of a misguided philosophy of education."
Gay Marriage
- Excerpt: "I am opposed to the redefinition of marriage."
Gun Control
- Excerpt: "I am against “Gun Control” to the extent that I am against depriving honest citizens the right to self defense. Law abiding citizens of sound mind should be able to carry small arms for use in self defense."
