Kyrzia Parker is a dedicated mother, licensed clinical social worker, small business owner, and proud Douglas County Schools alum running for the Douglas County School Board. With two young children going into the district and deep ties to the community, Kyrzia brings firsthand insight into the needs of students, families, and educators.

In her professional role, Kyrzia has supervised school-based social workers and supported them in navigating complex school environments by connecting families to critical resources, addressing barriers to learning, and advocating for student-centered solutions. Guided by this systems-level perspective, she strongly believes that public schools have an obligation to serve every child well. As a person with a disability and first-hand experience both receiving and helping develop IEPs, she is a passionate advocate for ensuring all students have the access, support, and opportunities they need to thrive in school. On the school board, Kyrzia will focus on listening to mental health professionals and educators, ensuring students with and without disabilities get the services they need, and rebuilding public trust through transparency and collaboration.

Now, as a parent raising her family in Douglas County, Kyrzia sees how political agendas are pulling focus from what matters most. She’s running to keep schools centered on students - their education, well-being, and future success.
  • Put Students at the Center of Decision-Making Our schools should always be guided by what’s best for students. That means investing in mental health, supporting teachers, ensuring special education services are strong, and keeping partisan politics out of the classroom.
  • Help All Students Reach Their Full Potential As a person with a disability and a licensed clinical social worker, she’s seen firsthand how critical it is that every student, no matter their background, ability, or identity, has the opportunity to succeed. Kyrzia will champion policies that reflect that.
  • Strengthen Trust and Community Connection Having grown up in Douglas County and now raising a family here, she knows how much people care about our schools. She will listen deeply, lead transparently, and make decisions that reflect the values of our entire community.
I’m not a politician. I’m a mom, a therapist, and a proud Douglas County graduate who’s focused on our kids. My passion is making sure every child has access to a high-quality public education that helps them thrive. That means strong academics, mental health support, and safe, welcoming schools. I care deeply about policies that put students at the center, support our teachers, and strengthen trust between schools, families, and the community.
I deeply admire Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in a U.S. Cabinet. What inspires me about her isn’t politics, it’s her leadership style. She led with compassion, practicality, and courage, always grounding her decisions in how they would improve people’s lives. She listened, collaborated, and found solutions that balanced care with accountability. That’s the kind of leadership I strive to bring to the school board: thoughtful, community-centered, and focused on doing what’s right for students and families.
I support smart, layered safety strategies that actually work: emergency preparedness, access to trained mental health professionals, and relationship-building through programs like Safe2Tell, which has proven its effectiveness in stopping tragedies before they happen.
I’m also proud that we already have 66 School Resource Officers working in partnership with our schools. These are trained professionals who build trust and help prevent crises - not just respond to them. If we want safer schools, we need to invest in what works - not just what makes headlines.
