Griffith ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi Senate District 40. He lost to both incumbent Sidney Albritton and challenger Angela Hill in the primary on August 2, 2011. Those two candidates faced off in a primary runoff election on August 23, 2011. No candidates ran in the Democratic primary election. The general election took place on November 8, 2011.[2]
