Campaign themes
Starr's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Job Creation and the State Tax Code
- Excerpt: "I understand how tax dollars are spent. We have a current tax code that favors those who are wealthy with special loopholes and tax breaks that allows them to pay less taxes than middle-class families. A strong economy is built on the backs of middle-class families, not corporations and wealthy investors."
Education
- Excerpt: "I will work with school districts and business owners to know and understand what students need to be ready for to enter the real world after graduation. To do this we will need to offer vocational and technical courses to students such as welding, auto body and repair, metal classes, machinist, food preparation, etc."
Veterans and their Families
- Excerpt: "Military veterans with physical and mental injuries will not be forgotten. As a State Senator, I will work with tirelessly with our federal and state authorities to ensure medical coverage is provided for all veterans."
State Infrastructure
- Excerpt: "Roads and bridges are getting old. State buildings such as the Capitol in St. Paul are old and are in need of repair because they are falling apart. New state buildings need to be built to keep pace with technology and to develop new jobs in MN."
Women’s Rights
- Excerpt: "Women have the right to choose and that choice will be protected."
