Robert J. Johnston
Robert J. Johnston was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He was appointed to the court in 1987 and was succeeded on the court by Nancy J. Koppe in 2013. [1][2]
Education
Judge Johnston graduated from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 1977.[1]
Career
Judge Johnston began his career in 1977 as a clerk for Judge Merlyn Hoyt of the Seventh Judicial District. From 1979 to 1982, he worked as a private practice lawyer and as the District Attorney for White Pine County. He then worked as the Chief of the Civil Section of the United States Attorney’s Office until his appointment to the U.S. District Court in 1987. He was named the court historian for the District of Nevada in 2000.[1]
