An effort to recall Mayor Ron Rathbone did not go to a vote in Humboldt, Nebraska, after Rathbone resigned on December 22, 2023.[1]

Rathbone was elected as mayor of Humboldt in November 2022. He replaced Robert Mendenhall, who survived a recall election in 2020.

Recall opponents

In response to the recall, Rathbone said, "This has gone far enough. We don’t need any more recalls in this town. This will be the third recall in four years of the city paying. It’s ridiculous."
