December 14, 2017: Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced a “Medicare for All” bill that has won support from a number of Democratic colleagues. A recent Gallup poll shows that 61% of Americans do not know enough about the plan to have an opinion one way or the other.[1] According to Gallup, 17% favor the plan and 21% oppose it.
Past Number of the Day articles have found the following:
- 15 million Americans would opt out of Obamacare coverage if they could. An additional 6.5 million paid a fine rather than signing up.
- Hospitals have experienced significant revenue growth during the first two years of Obamacare.
- Part of the frustration with healthcare is driven by the fact that the average doctor visit requires 101 minutes in the waiting room and traveling to see a doctor.
- 33% of Americans support a single-payer healthcare plan. That survey did not reference the Medicare for All approach.
