January 30, 2025: Thirty-three percent (33%) of voters say the United States is currently in a recession. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found 40% disagree.

The survey also found an additional 11% say the U.S. is likely to enter a recession over the next six months. Twelve percent (12%) say the U.S. is currently in a recession, but that it is likely to end over the next six months.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on January 21-22, 2025. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Scott Rasmussen is the president of RMG Research, Inc.
