1. Teachers Pay

2. Mental Heath

3. Diversity/Equity
I am passionate about increasing teachers pay. The teachers are the grassroots workers that educate our students. I believe that paying teachers more and allowing them to have a voice will create a better school atmosphere for educational development and learning.
I looked up to my late grandmother Mattie Shackleford, my mother Roslyn McCall,my late Aunt Mildred Faison and my beautiful wife Dr. Shannon McCall. These women are warriors, role models and trend setters. I love their energy, tenacity and determination as professional women who were able to provide for their families and take care of their households.
I love the book Savage Inequities by Jonathan Kozol. It paints a vivid picture of the impoverished educational system in East St Louis. I also love the book Countering Conspiracy to Destroy Young Black Males by Junaza Kojufu. I believe these books are very inspiring, informational and help one learn about the inequalities and problems with our educational system.
I think an elected official should be an effective communicator, a team player, have thick skin and exhibit transparency and shared governance.
I believe that my ability to effectively communicate with others, along with my ability to listen and build relationships with others are critical personality traits for school board candidates/members.
The core responsibilities for a school board member is to be a voice for the community, build relationships with the community, appoint/evaluate the superintendent, listen to the families, children and teachers; share the school divisions goals and maintain the fiscal budget.
I would like to leave as a legacy that I am a hard worker that was firm, fair, consistent and transparent. I also want to be remembered as someone who was respected by the community, the teachers, the students, the parents, and my colleagues.
The first historical event that I remember is when President Ronald Reagan was shot. I was 11 years old.
My first job was working for the Richmond Times Dispatch as a paper delivery carrier.
My most awkward date, I was 16 years old. We were at a restaurant ordering virgin strawberry drinks. We kept asking for a refills. However, we were not aware that refills were $5.50 each...Needless to say I didn't have the money to pay for the drinks and had to talk with the manager who waived the price.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because I am thankful each year and Blessed to be with my friends an family.
My favorite book is the Bible...“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I would like to be a superhero that is able to help underprivileged children and be a Blessing for those in need of favor.
My family room with my TV to watch sports, movies and politics!
This is my season by William Murphy.
I struggle with getting hurt playing College football for Maryville College 9-11-93 (having brain surgery) and never being able to finish my collegiate football career or ever play the game again.
1. Be a voice for the community

2. Build relationships
3. Handle the budget
4. Evaluate the superintendent

5. Transparency
Constituents are the people we represent and vote for us as officers.
I would definitely support more diversity and equity in schools. Create an educational environment conducive for all.
The most important way to build relationships is to get involved, listen and produce effective and measurable results.
I will listen to the parents, poll the parents, get parents involved and be fair, firm and consistent with the parents. Finally, I will always welcome open dialogue and I will be transparent and provide information to our parents because their voices matter.
I definitely believe diversity is essential for growth and development. I would build task teams/committees to work with Human Resources to get our schools more diversified.
There are no single issues that hinder educational development. There are a plethora of issues that needs to be address so that our students and educational divisions can be nationally recognized as one of the best in the country.
Good teachers are able to teach the lessons effectively, teachers are dedicated, determined, love to teach, love students, and build relationships with our students and parents.
The basic reading, writing and arithmetic, along with technology and STEM education.
This is for the school administrators and teachers to establish and develop and once finished, then, it will be brought to the board for review and approval.
Research, surveys and best effective practices.
We need to add mental health workers to the school building to help educate, evaluate and help our students and teachers cope with stressors in the envirnment the prohibit progress.
