Dr. Saul Hinojosa is the superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District. Hinojosa was appointed by the Texas Education Agency in February 2025. His previous career experience includes serving as the superintendent of Somerset ISD.[1]

Past superintendents

  • Henry Yzaguirre is the superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District. Yzaguirre was appointed interim superintendent in December 2021 and as full superintendent in August 2022 serving until 2025. His previous career experience includes serving within the district as a teacher, coach, principal, and executive director of student support services. Before returning to SA ISD, Yzaguirre served as executive director of operations in the Southside Independent School District.[2][3]
  • Marc Puig was the superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District from 2020 until his resignation on June 21, 2022.[2] His previous career experience includes serving as the superintendent of the Beeville Independent School District.[4]
  • Dolores Sendejo was the interim superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District from 2019 to 2020. Sendejo's previous career experience included working as the district's chief academic officer.[5]
  • Alexandro Flores was the superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District from 2018 to 2019.[5]
  • Abelardo Saavedra was the superintendent of the South San Antonio Independent School District from 2014 to 2018. Saavedra's previous career experience included working as the superintendent of the Corpus Christi Independent School District, a teacher, and a school district administrator.[6]
