Steven Bradbury is the former acting secretary of transportation. He was the 19th person to serve in the position. Bradbury became the acting secretary of transportation on January 12, 2021, after former secretary Elaine Chao resigned her position.[1]

On January 13, 2025, Donald Trump (R) announced Bradbury would serve as deputy secretary of transportation in his second presidential administration.[2]

Biography

Bradbury was born on September 12, 1958, in Portland, Oregon.[3] He received a bachelor's degree in English from Stanford University in 1980 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1988.[4] After completing his education, Bradbury worked in private practice, as well as clerking for Judge James L. Buckley of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also worked in various roles for the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Transportation.[4]
