Campaign themes
2016
Mallard's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Lower Taxes: The answer to high taxes is simple…we can lower taxes by lowering the cost of government. Merely shifting taxes from one source to another is NOT the correct answer: We must look for ways to cut costs, thereby lowering the over-all tax burden of our state including our state income tax. Promote Economic Development: This we know firsthand, we need to continue building our Automotive & Aeronautic successes in our Low country and the entire state. By recruiting all new industries, we can create higher paying jobs for the people in our district. More jobs means a stronger economy. Repair Our Roads and Infastructure: Our roads, highways and bridges are in dire need of repair and as our government does nothing, the costs continue to rise. This ought to be a top priority issue. Defend 2nd Amendment Rights: The assault on the rights of law abiding citizens to own and carry legal firearms is continuing. I will always stand up and advocate strongly for our 2nd Amendment freedoms. Improve And Strengthen Our Education System: Our children deserve a quality education because when they enter the workforce, they will be competing with graduates from around the world. We must raise our academic standards without giving control to bureaucrats in Washington. Educational choice and options are keys to our success in South Carolina. Push For Greater Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics: While every vote our elected officials take should be on the record, the budget process ought to be done in the open as well. We should strengthen our state ethics laws and demand that all campaign income and expenditures be disclosed while also publicly disclosing lawmakers sources of income.[1] |
