Timothy (Ty) S. Hogan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 4, 1983. He comes from a lineage of Democratic public servants that extends over one hundred and nineteen years.

Hogan earned athletic and academic accolades at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. He started on the football team as a tight end while earning an accelerated master's degree in economics. Hogan finished his career winning the Danowski Award as one of Fordham's finest leaders.

Hogan started his financial career on Wall Street before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served with distinction as a Reconnaissance Platoon Commander and Intelligence Officer.

Hogan returned to Cincinnati after four years of active-duty service and two years abroad. He resumed his financial career at Fort Washington Investment Advisors, managing multi-million-dollar portfolios. He co-founded a multi-million-dollar real estate company that owns and operates multi-family housing, and he joined the board of directors of three non-profits that support various causes.

Hogan resigned as a Senior Investment and Portfolio Manager to pursue a graduate degree at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. After Harvard, he returned to Cincinnati to teach economics at the University of Cincinnati and manage his real estate company, Pendleton Properties.

Hogan lives in Miami Township with his wife, Laura Schiller, son Timothy S. Hogan, and two rescue dogs.
  • Bringing Opportunities to Ohio — Hogan’s top priority is fighting to grow career opportunities for the people of Ohio’s 8th District. As a business-focused moderate with experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, he brings diverse experience, relationships, and expertise to the office.
  • Honesty and Transparency — After the largest corruption scandal in Ohio’s 221-year history (the Ohio nuclear bribery scandal), Hogan believes it is time for the Ohio government to earn back Ohioans' trust. Since uncovering the scandal in 2020, zero laws have been passed to combat the issues that led to the crisis. Hogan is committed to legislation ending dark money donors and anti-corruption reform.
  • Unity and Strength — As a centrist refusing to take donations from either political party or special interest groups, Hogan is uniquely positioned to help bring Ohioans together. As a Marine Corps veteran, Hogan plans to leverage the leadership he learned in the military to bring everyone to the table and craft common-sense, bipartisan legislation that makes Ohio competitive again.
Economic policy is Hogan's primary passion. A stronger and more competitive Ohio economy will improve public policy in education, healthcare, infrastructure, social policy, and other critical areas to improve Ohioan's lives.
Selfless leaders who personally sacrifice for the greater good: George Washington's decision to decline the crown, Pat Tillman's enlistment in the Army, and Lyndon B. Johnson's loss of the South and political career by signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Those remarkable decisions represent the best of our nature and inspire others to choose service beyond self.
Plato's "The Republic" — Specific to the essence of an ideal society ruled by reason and guided by virtue.

FDR, the 2023 three-part miniseries that chronicles the life of Franklin D. Roosevelt — Specific to using government as a force of good.
Leadership that is built on competence, character, and caring about your constituents and colleagues.
Commitment to public service, intellectual curiosity, and a strong work ethic to support preparation and planning.
Public engagement to ensure all constitutional are heard and policymaking for the betterment of their community.
The peace of mind of knowing I did the most with the gifts God blessed me with and that my son is proud of his name (Timothy S. Hogan V) .
I vaguely recall "Black Monday" in 1987. I was four and remember learning a plethora of new curse words from my father.
I was a caddy at a local country club in the summer. I held the position until I made a joke to my godfather about a bad shot, and he told the Caddie Master. It was the end of a promising caddying career.
"Lords of Discipline" by Pat Conroy. I loved Conroy's thought-provoking themes and portrayal of military culture.
Atticus Finch. Integrity, empathy, and courage.
A partnership characterized by respect, cooperation, and a commitment to effective governance for the benefit of the people they serve.
The key challenge for Ohio's future is the economy. Positive population growth, job creation, and an increase in labor force participation would support affordable healthcare initiatives, improved education outcomes, infrastructure investment, and a myriad of other policies that advance Ohioans' interests.

Ohio's leaders must address a lagging economy and deliver solutions for industry diversification, workforce development, and competitive long-term economic growth.
State legislators should have experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Ideally, our public servants should be able to leverage their diverse academic and professional expertise to approach complex problems with unique perspectives. Individuals with best-in-class networks to offer direction and the humility to ask for help.
Building relationships is essential for effective governance. Cooperation, mutual respect, and a better understanding of diverse perspectives promote public trust and enhance politicians' ability to serve their constituents.
As the owner of a real estate business specializing in multi-family housing, I am confronted with the struggles of too many hard-working Ohioans living paycheck to paycheck. These include mothers who work three jobs to support their elderly parents and young children, and recent college graduates saddled with overwhelming educational debt. I see the anxiety financial stress can cause, the embarrassment of not being able to pay rent and the hopelessness of owning your own home.

Ohio’s government can serve the public interest by taking action to offer these individuals a hand up and not a handout. Our leaders can promote the common good by investing in these men and women to help provide hope.
How many economists does it take to change a light bulb? None. If the light bulb needed changing, the market would have already done it.
There must be a balance between the flexibility of granting and maintaining appropriate checks and balances to protect the people's rights and interests. The legislature's involvement in overseeing or granting emergency powers supports democracy, accountability, and safeguards against potential abuses of authority.
The elimination of the Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) and the Financial Institution Tax (FIT).
Finance, Insurance and Financial Institutions, and Government Oversight and Reform.
Elected officials should be accountable for their actions and decisions. Financial transparency should reflect a commitment to upholding democratic principles, fostering public trust, and lead to improved efficiency and effectiveness in government operations.
